Transition Cotati brings neighbors together to build a more self-reliant and resilient future for Cotati. We envision a vibrant and diverse local economy, a dramatically reduced reliance on fossil fuels, and a rich community life.

Transition Initiatives and Transition Cotati

Transition Cotati is part of a growing network of hundreds of Transition Initiatives world-wide.

The Transition approach empowers Cotati to squarely face the challenges of economic turmoil, climate change, and a shifting energy landscape. We are working together as a community to find answers to this momentous question:

For all of those aspects of life that we need in order to sustain ourselves and thrive, how are we going to drastically reduce carbon emissions, significantly rebuild resilience, and greatly strengthen our local economy?

Will The Transition Approach Work?

Transition is a social experiment on a massive scale.
What we are convinced of is this:

if we wait for the governments, it'll be too little, too late
if we act as individuals, it'll be too little
but if we act as communities, it might just be enough, just in time.

Who Should Get Involved?

Every individual has something valuable to contribute and each person has a role in making our community what we really want it to be. Transition Cotati is reaching out to "unleash" our community's creativity, in cooperation with existing groups and initiatives, to explore the transition from oil dependency to relocalized economies. Transition Cotati makes no claim to having all the answers, but by building on the wisdom of the past and accessing the pool of ingenuity, skills and determination in our community, we believe the solutions will emerge.

By thinking and acting together and designing systems based on localized food, sustainable energy sources, resilient local economies and an enlivened sense of community well-being, the transition to a more resilient way of living can become reality.

Now is the time for us to take stock and to start creating our future!
